Expenscan is built on the principle of on-device privacy. Your data is yours — we never collect, upload, or transmit any information from your device. All receipt scanning, processing, and storage occurs locally.

All scanning, OCR, and data processing happens locally on your device. No data is ever sent to external servers.

Delete individual receipts, clear app data, or uninstall to remove all data — no account deletion needed.

Local Database
Your receipts are stored in an encrypted internal database (Room) that no other app can access.
Data Categories
For Play Store transparency requirements, here is a complete declaration of data types:
- Camera (Optional, Runtime Permission): Used for scanning receipts. No images are stored or transmitted. The camera feed is processed in real-time via on-device ML Kit OCR.
- Personal Info: None collected. No account, no registration, no login required.
- Financial Info: Scanned receipt data (item prices, totals) is stored locally and never shared.
- Device ID: Not collected.
- Location: Not collected.
- App Activity: Not collected. No analytics or tracking SDKs.
- File Access (Optional): Only when you explicitly export or import CSV files.
Data Sharing
Expenscan does not share any data with third parties. The application has no network communication capabilities for data transmission. The only third-party libraries used (ML Kit, CameraX, Room) operate entirely on-device and do not transmit data.
Your Control
You retain complete control over your data at all times:
- Revoke camera permission at any time via system settings
- Delete individual receipts or all data within the app
- Export your data to CSV for your own backup
- Uninstall the app to remove all data from your device
